ExpressVPN vs NordVPN: Which is Better?
ExpressVPN and NordVPN are the two most popular VPNs in the world. Here's a detailed comparison to help you choose.
1. Speed
ExpressVPN is slightly faster thanks to its Lightway protocol. In our tests from West Africa, ExpressVPN averages 480 Mbps vs 450 Mbps for NordVPN (NordLynx). The difference is minimal for normal use.
2. Server Coverage
ExpressVPN: 3,000+ servers in 94 countries
NordVPN: 5,000+ servers in 60 countries
NordVPN has more servers but ExpressVPN covers more countries. For Africa, both offer nearby servers in Europe.
3. Security
Both offer AES-256 encryption, Kill Switch, and an audited no-logs policy. NordVPN adds Double VPN and obfuscated servers to bypass censorship. ExpressVPN offers split-tunneling and TrustedServer (RAM-only).
4. Streaming
Both unblock Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, and more. ExpressVPN is slightly more reliable for streaming thanks to optimized servers. NordVPN is also excellent with its SmartPlay feature.
5. Price at RDS Hub
| Plan | NordVPN | ExpressVPN |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | 4,500 FCFA | 6,500 FCFA |
| 1 year | 15,000 FCFA | 25,000 FCFA |
| 2 years | 22,000 FCFA | 40,000 FCFA |
6. Our Verdict
NordVPN: best value for money, ideal for most users in Africa. More servers, Double VPN, very competitive price.
ExpressVPN: if speed is your absolute priority and budget isn't an issue. More countries covered and simpler interface.
Both are available on RDS Hub with Mobile Money payment.
